So come comfy! We welcome blankets and pillows, and don't be afraid to come in the same clothes you can climb into bed later that night in! This is a safe space! We'll have bottomless hot chocolate on sale for everyone in their PJs.

Look out for more 'Big Night In' nights in future months!

Bande à part
1964 ‧ Drama/Crime ‧ 1h 37m

First released on 5 Aug 1964, we can celebrate the 55th anniversary of this cinematic gem.

Cinephile slackers Franz (Sami Frey) and Arthur (Claude Brasseur) spend their days mimicking the antiheroes of Hollywood noirs and Westerns while pursuing the lovely Odile (Anna Karina). The misfit trio upends convention at every turn, be it through choreographed dances in cafés or frolicsome romps through the Louvre. Eventually, their romantic view of outlaws pushes them to plan their own heist, but their inexperience may send them out in a blaze of glory -- which could be just what they want.

Jozi Gold

A human catastrophe, a toxic city, an unlikely activist. The story about the gold mining industry in Johannesburg and the radioactive waste left behind.

Dir. Sylvia Vollenhoven & Fredrik Gertten | 74min

The mines of Johannesburg have produced a third of all the gold mined in human history. But now the gold is running out, the mines are falling apart and the city must confront an environmental nightmare. Tons of radioactive waste pollute the air and turn water into poison every day.

Enter the glamorous Mariette Liefferink. A grandmother who totters across a dystopian wasteland in perfectly manicured nails, impossibly high heels and a Chinese cheongsam dress. Mariette is on a relentless mission to uncover the truth and force the gold industry to clean up its dangerous mess.

She reaches out across South Africa’s sharp social divides to poor shantytown dwellers and Afrikaner farmersalike. Governments, NGOs and international scientists all call on her for help.

16 Aug.

This Women's Month, The Bioscope is proud to bring back this Oscar® Nominated documentary about the extraordinary life of Women's Rights lawyer and cultural icon, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

We are looking to donate a portion of the proceeds to a women's charity organization making a difference in the lives of women in society, so join the discussion in our facebook event to help us find our best fit.

Directed by: Betsy West, Julie Cohen / Documentary. 96min

At the age of 85, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has developed a breathtaking legal legacy while becoming an unexpected pop culture icon. But without a definitive Ginsburg biography, the unique personal journey of this diminutive, quiet warrior's rise to the nation's highest court has been largely unknown, even to some of her biggest fans - until now. RBG is a revelatory documentary exploring Ginsburg 's exceptional life and career from Betsy West and Julie Cohen, and co-produced by Storyville Films and CNN Films.
